Interstate Companies is seeking an experienced and strategic Credit Manager to lead our Credit, Collections, and Accounts Receivable functions from our Corporate Headquarters in Eagan, Minnesota.
Reporting directly to the Executive Vice President of Finance, this high-impact leadership role is responsible for managing credit risk, optimizing collections performance, overseeing accounts receivable operations, and developing a high-performing team. The Credit Manager serves as a key business partner to Finance, Sales, Operations, and Branch Leadership across our multi-state organization.

What You'll Do
Credit & Risk Management
- Establish and administer company credit policies, approval authorities, and risk tolerances.
- Evaluate customer creditworthiness using financial statement analysis, credit reports, and payment histories.
- Approve credit limits and continuously monitor customer exposure and financial risk.
- Resolve complex credit decisions, escalated customer issues, and account disputes.
Collections & Accounts Receivable Leadership
- Lead company-wide collections strategies to reduce delinquency, minimize bad debt, and improve cash flow.
- Oversee Accounts Receivable operations, including cash application, reconciliations, and account maintenance.
- Manage the allowance for doubtful accounts and bad debt reserve analysis.
- Review, recommend, and approve account write-offs within delegated authority.
- Coordinate collection escalations, including third-party agencies, lien and bond claims, and outside legal counsel.
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, coach, and develop the Credit & Collections and Accounts Receivable teams.
- Establish clear goals, expectations, and performance standards.
- Recruit, hire, train, and retain top talent.
- Conduct performance evaluations and support employee growth and development.
Strategic Partnership & Continuous Improvement
- Partner closely with Sales, Operations, and Branch Leadership to support profitable growth while maintaining sound credit practices.
- Administer and optimize the company's credit and collections technology platform, Esker.
- Monitor and report on key metrics including:
- Days Sales Outstanding (DSO)
- Days Beyond Terms (DBT)
- Aging performance
- Collection effectiveness
- Credit exposure
- Bad debt performance
- Lead process improvement and finance transformation initiatives that improve efficiency, visibility, and financial results.

- Experience with ERP systems, order-to-cash processes, and credit and collections technologies.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in credit, collections, accounts receivable, or related finance functions.
- 5+ years of leadership experience managing and developing teams.
- Experience overseeing credit risk for a large accounts receivable portfolio exceeding $100 million.
- Experience utilizing the Esker credit and collections platform.
- NACM certifications (CBA, CBF, or CCE) preferred.
- Demonstrated success leading process improvement or finance transformation initiatives.
Travel
- Occasional travel is needed for training and business support.
Physical Requirement
- Ability to remain seated at a workstation for extended periods.
- Frequent use of computers, telephones, and standard office equipment.
- Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 20 pounds.
- Ability to bend, reach, and move through an office environment.
